From successful tour player, to successful course designer.
Tom Weiskopf has won titles and tournaments worldwide as a PGA Tour and Senior Tour standout. Born and raised in Ohio, Tom took up golf at age 15 and was winning statewide tournaments by 18. PGA tour highlights include winning twice at the Canadian Open (in 1973 and 1975) as well as the British Open in 1973. A successful Senior Tour career saw wins at the Chrysler Cup in 1993 and the USGA Senior Open in 1995. Far before the Senior Tour wins Tom became involved in golf course design in the mid-eighties. This led to a partnership with course architect Jay Morrish in 1983 as well as starting his own golf course design firm in 1994. Tom has won multiple awards for his courses. Several courses have been among the “Top 100 courses in the world” by Golf Digest, including Troon North Golf Club: The Monument in Scottsdale, AZ, Loch Lomand Golf Club in Scotland and Forest Highlands Golf Club, The Canyon Course in Flagstaff, AZ.
About his course at The Club at Black Rock, Weiskopf states “This is an exceptional property. It has very dramatic vistas, long views, beautiful tree coverage and wonderful contours to work with as well as some unique water features. We have been given the opportunity to put the golf course where it belongs. So we do not have to contrive things. It fits naturally into the beautiful contours of the land.” |
