Coeur d'Alene The Region Activities Dining

There just aren't enough hours in the day planner.

One thing you'll NEVER hear at Black Rock is… "there's nothing to do here!"

In addition to the most incredible golf experience you'll ever have in your life, Black Rock's prime location gives you and your family access to an amazing array of activities for everyone to enjoy. From outdoor activities like snow sports, water sports, fishing, and wildlife viewing, to western experiences like big game hunting, alpine climbing and trail riding, Black Rock offers all of these within a short drive. And for the less active adventurer, there are always treasures to be found on shopping expeditions in nearby Coeur d'Alene, Sandpoint and Spokane.

Skiing and Snowboarding

Black Rock is blessed with a four-season climate where winter is something to look forward to. Four uncrowded ski areas lie within 90 minutes of Coeur d'Alene: Silver Mountain, Lookout Pass, Schweitzer Mountain, and Mt. Spokane. Runs for all abilities, plenty of vertical and five months of white stuff make skiing and boarding a major benefit of your Black Rock membership.

In addition to carving the slopes and half pipes, the region also offers some of the best cross-country skiing in the country. With many miles of groomed trails at area ski areas and thousands of square miles of national forests and wilderness areas, the Inland Northwest is the perfect place to explore nature's beauty on skinny skis.

Water Sports

Who better to trust than National Geographic Magazine who calls Lake Coeur d'Alene one of the five most beautiful lakes in the world. At Black Rock, that lake fills your senses. With 135 miles of shoreline the Black Rock Marina grants you access to fabulous water skiing, sailing, windsurfing and parasailing. For those who want to wet a line, the lake is blessed with great fishing for kokanee salmon, trout and bass.

Not to be outdone, the rest of the region compensates with over 150 other lakes and over 2,000 miles of rivers and streams, including Lake Pend Oreille. This lake, stunning in its own right, sports record-sized kokanee and trout in addition to fabulous sailing on its uncrowded, pristine waters.

These inspiring lakes and rivers make Northern Idaho a haven for all kinds of water sports. And they are all yours at Black Rock.

Hunting and Nature

If the thrill of the hunt is in your blood, then Black Rock can oblige. The wild lands of North Idaho and Western Montana are home to big game, water fowl and upland birds that will challenge and reward any hunter. Rocky Mountain elk, black bear, cougar, whitetail and mule deer are prime quarry in the Fall, while other seasons bring duck, geese and ringnecked pheasants to your sights.

If you prefer to hunt with a camera rather than a firearm, you will find the same wildlife to enjoy, and more. Lake Coeur d'Alene is home to an impressive group of Bald Eagles that hunt from the shoreline each winter, and the natural areas of Black Rock are host to rabbits, porcupine, ravens, deer and the nightly singing of coyotes.

Other Adventures

Black Rock is the perfect basecamp for a wonderland of outdoor adventures. When you are not facing the challenges of the Black Rock golf course, you and your family can fill your days with jazz and blues festivals, whitewater rafting, casino gaming, jetboat tours, horseback riding, backpacking and hiking, mountain biking, rock and mountain climbing, and panning for gold and precious gems.

Within an hour's drive of Black Rock you can visit fabulous art and history museums, go to a touring Broadway show, attend a renowned symphony orchestra performance, take in a semi-pro baseball game, or catch a modern dance event. You can even get in more golf at one of over 32 private and public courses within an hour of Black Rock.

While Northern Idaho might seem like the end of the road, it is in reality a fabulous gateway to a wide variety of entertainment and adventure.
